Yesterday, 31st August 2026, exactly 21 days after the ‘purported’ passing of the Constitution of Sierra Leone (Amendment) Act 2025 into law by Parliament, I filed an action in the Supreme Court seeking interpretation of certain sections of the 1991 Constitution and how they apply to the process of amending the Constitution.

On radio, I promised to take this matter to the Supreme Court. As you might remember, I started sounding the alarm long before now; as early as when I challenged the proper publication of the Bill in 2 issues of the Gazette.

For me, this has never been about partisan politics or my personal political ambition to lead this nation.

Today I am opportuned and blessed to be placed in a position where my forebears were when they enacted the 1991 Constitution.

Soon, posterity will judge our actions and inaction when this constitutional slaughter was performed on the alter of political convenience.

This is my generation. I represent the majority who mostly look like me. I was sent to represent voices that cannot be heard. I consider this a sacred duty.

This is not a personal fight against the Attorney General and the Speaker, both of whom are friends of mine.

This is about safeguarding the future of this nation from self-serving politicians. No way can we amend the constitution by a simple majority votes.
