President Julius Maada Bio has announced a fresh round of appointments across Government ministries, agencies, diplomatic missions, and public institutions, signaling another significant reshuffle within the administration.
According to a public notice issued by State House on Tuesday, the appointments are subject to parliamentary approval where required and affect key sectors including finance, foreign affairs, employment, energy, mining, revenue administration, public health, and diplomatic service.
Among the most notable appointments is Mr. Karefa A. F. Kargbo, who has been nominated as Minister of Finance, replacing the current leadership at a time when economic management remains a major national priority. The Ministry of Finance plays a central role in fiscal policy, revenue management, budgeting, and economic planning.
President Bio has also nominated Mr. Mohamed Rahman Swarray as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, while Mr. Umaru Napoleon Koroma has been appointed Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security.
Further changes include the appointment of Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Steven A. Jusu as Deputy Minister of Energy II, and Mr. Foday Mousa Fofanah as Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources.
In revenue administration, Mr. Abu M. Kanneh has been nominated as Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA), while Mr. Edmond Nonie has been appointed Deputy Commissioner General II of the institution. These appointments come at a time when Government continues to emphasize domestic revenue mobilisation as a key pillar of economic sustainability.
State House also announced the appointment of Mr. Prince A. Bull Luseni as Executive Director of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), a position expected to play a critical role in ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse.
On the diplomatic front, Prof. Foday M. Jaward has been appointed Ambassador of Sierra Leone to the State of Qatar, reinforcing Sierra Leone’s diplomatic engagement in the Gulf region.
The President further named Mr. Sheku A. F. Bangura and Mr. Timothy Musa Kabba as Presidential Advisers, adding experienced political and governance figures to the advisory team at State House.
Within the health sector, Dr. Sartie Kenneh has been appointed Chairman of the National Public Health Agency, while Dr. Donald Alpha Bash-Taqi will serve as Chairman of the Tobacco and Nicotine Control Council. Additionally, Prof. Gibril Fadlu-Deen has been appointed Chairman of the Teaching Hospitals Complex Administration Board.
The appointments represent one of the most extensive rounds of changes in recent months and are expected to attract significant public and parliamentary scrutiny, particularly regarding the Finance Ministry, Foreign Affairs Ministry, and National Revenue Authority.
Parliament is expected to consider and approve the nominations that require legislative endorsement before the appointees formally assume office.
