National Grand Coalition (NGC) has postponed its National Delegates Conference after receiving a directive from Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) to suspend the event pending resolution of internal disputes.
The party leadership informed delegates and members that the conference had been postponed with immediate effect. A new date will be announced once outstanding matters have been resolved.
Conference, scheduled for 18 July 2026 in Freetown, was halted after PPRC instructed NGC not to proceed until all petitions before the Commission or courts had been determined.
Documents seen by SierraEye show one dispute stems from a petition filed by Hassan Sankoh, NGC’s Deputy Regional Chairman for the North-East Region. Petition challenges legality and outcome of lower-level elections held in Bombali District on 31 January 2026.
Petitioner alleges breaches of NGC Constitution and Political Parties Act, 2022, citing procedural irregularities, failure to address objections raised before elections, denial of equal participation for eligible members, and violations of transparency and internal democratic principles. He is asking the court to declare electoral process unlawful, null, and void.
Postponement leaves NGC’s highest decision-making meeting on hold until legal and regulatory issues are resolved, highlighting the importance of compliance with party rules and Sierra Leone’s electoral laws.
