President Bio Announces New Government Appointments

President Julius Maada Bio has announced a series of key appointments across government ministries and state institutions, according to a public notice issued by State House on 21 July 2026.

The appointments, some of which are subject to parliamentary approval, affect the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), and the Conservation Trust Fund.

Under the new appointments:

Ms. Isata Marah has been appointed Deputy Minister of Finance II.

Dr. Isata Kamanda has been appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security I.

Ing. Bryan Smart-Kanu has been appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security II.

Mr. Ahmid C. Jalloh has been named Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Conservation Trust Fund.

At NASSIT, President Bio announced a new leadership team:

Ms. Jenneh Jabati has been appointed Chairperson of the Board of Trustees.

Mr. Chernor Mamoud Jalloh has been appointed Director General.

Mr. Mohamed Bangura has been appointed Deputy Director General (Administration and Finance).

The appointments come as the government continues efforts to strengthen leadership and improve service delivery across key sectors, including finance, agriculture, social security, and environmental management.

Observers are expected to closely watch the new appointments, particularly within the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, as government intensifies implementation of its food security agenda, and at NASSIT, where the new leadership will be tasked with overseeing one of the country’s most important social protection institutions.
